A simple ride on horseback between two valleys
Let the view take you from the Pamplona basin and the Zona Media ‘’Middle Region’’ to the distant Pyrenees, visible on clear days. A walk among holm oaks, simple and pleasant to enjoy any day of the year.
To the north of the municipality of Biurrun-Olcoz are the areas of Eraria and El Monte. Eraria is a small valley located between Biurrun and Subiza, full of fertile agricultural fields and crossed by the stream of the same name, which is usually dry. El Monte is a small 790 m high mountain with holm oaks located to the north of Biurrun and to the west of Eraria. The proposed route leaves Biurrun through its upper part and immediately takes the Camino Viejo de Eraria, which climbs gently to the northwest. After 1.3 km it reaches a wide pass where the ascent to El Monte begins, flanked by holm oaks at all times. After passing several dovecote trees you reach the highest point, with spectacular views in all directions. On clear days you can see the peaks of the Western Pyrenees. The descent is made first by a nice path towards the north and then by a track towards the south, until you reach the asphalted road that leads to the Ondarra Foundation. From there, the only thing left to do is to return to Biurrun along this comfortable path lined with beautiful trees.
