A modest summit with wide views
Buskil is one of the highest points in Tafalla, from where you can see the valley and in the distance the Pyrenees and the Moncayo. This simple circular walk leads to the top between fields dotted with small groves of holm oaks and gall oaks. A good way to get to know the surroundings of the Middle Zone of Navarre.
Walk up to the modest summit of Buskil, near the border with Artajona y Pueyo. The route starts at the CaserĂo del Monte, between kermes oak and gall oak groves alternating with cereal fields. The start is at the CaserĂo del Monte; to reach this point, take the road from Tafalla towards Artajona (NA-6030). At 5 km from the town we will find a construction on our right with two reservoirs (the Monte and Perejil reservoirs) and a large esplanade: the CaserĂo del Monte. It is a short route with some unevenness and that leads to one of the highest points of the municipality (635 m), from where we can contemplate the whole region and in clear days the Moncayo and Pyrenees. The term is called "Buskil", a toponym which refers to "enclosure of undergrowth where the cattle is enclosed", of which we can still see some examples. The route first goes up a beautiful little valley along a flat and pleasant track, to soon turn off onto a wide path on the right that climbs up the slope of the visible hill. At the end of the track, we continue along a small path that enters the forest between good sized trees. This path takes us to the summit, where there is a geodesic vertex, popularly called "Piedra Blanca". The descent is made by another slope, to reach again the initial ravine.
